As a landscape photographer, I wanted to capture the fall colors along the winding road between Aspen and Denver. The trees blazed with reds, yellows, and oranges, like the whole forest was on fire. But I didn’t want just the trees. I wanted to show the wild river below, rushing through the bright colors, like nature’s own masterpiece.

The challenge was standing on the edge of a rocky cliff. One slip, and I’d be in the river myself. I set up my camera carefully, trying to keep my balance as the wind whipped around me. The sound of the water roared in my ears, and I could feel the ground shift under my feet. But I held steady, waiting for the right light.

Then, the sun broke through the clouds, lighting up the valley. The water sparkled, and the colors of the trees seemed to glow even brighter. I clicked the shutter, capturing the river as it twisted through the golden forest, the colors of Colorado shining in the afternoon light.
